 Adult Courses

 Start Sailing

Our introductory course, the Keelboat Crew Course enables you to learn all the basics of sailing over four three hour lessons.  This course is ideal for the absolute beginner who wants to feel safe and confident. This is a great opportunity to get out on the water, learn a new skill,  have fun and meet new people. $495 per person plus $65 YA Registration, logbook & textbook

No experience necessary.

Join a Yacht Crew

 The Keelboat Helm Course will give you all the skills you need to become a competent crew member and helm a small yacht under supervision.  The course runs over four three hour lessons and will set you up to be a useful crew member on a yacht. After completing this course you can join our crew register and we will place you on a yacht in the MYC Fleet.   $495 per person per person plus $65 YA Registration, logbook & textbook.

Must have basic boating experience or have completed Keelboat Crew Course

 Get into Yacht Racing

 If you are serious about getting a spot on a good Race Yacht then the Keelboat Racing and Spinnaker courses are for you.  The most valued crew are those who can turn their hand to anything and these courses will cover all positions -  from foredeck, mast, strings to helming with a spinnaker up. This course is ideal for crew who want to get a position on a race boat or existing crew who want to brush up on their spinnaker skills. Course is held over two days and includes a race in the MYC Club Championships to put those new skills into practice. $495 per person.

Must have completed KeelBoat Helm Course.

 

Charter a Yacht or own your own

 

If you dream of chartering a yacht in the Whitsundays or maybe some day owning your own then you need to know all about boat handling and become a competent skipper.  The Keelboat Seamanship course will give you the advanced Sailing Skills and safety knowledge to enable you to sail unsupervised.  $495 per person

 

Must have completed Keelboat Crew Course and Keelboat Helm Course or hold a competent crew certificate.

 Go to Whoa: We offer big discounts when you book the entire Keelboat Scheme courses together. The whole package is $1750 (usual price $1980). Signing up for the package also gives you 5 free races on a standby basis over 5 months.

 

 

Childrens Courses

 

Manly Sailing conduct Term Time Sailing Programs and School Holiday Sailing Camps for children between the ages of 7 and 14 years.

 

School Holiday Sailing Camps

 

The camp provides a safe and fun introduction to small boat sailing for children during the School Holidays.

 

The course runs from 9.30pm to 3pm each day and includes an introduction to boat handling skills and essential knowledge that will allow children the freedom of sailing small boats with guidance from our qualified Instructors. Most importantly children are taught to feel confident on the water while having a heap of fun with other kids. Price $295. Next Camp: April 10th to 12th 2012

Saturday Sailing Courses

 

Our Term-Time courses are 8 week programs – conducted on Saturday Mornings from 9.30 – 12pm. Children are taught in accordance with Yachting Australias Get into Small Boat Sailing Scheme. All levels of this scheme are taught with YA Certification for the child at the end of each level.

 

Our focus is to teach children how to sail in a fun safe environment, giving them the skills and abilities that will enable them to partake in Sailing which is truly a sport for life.

Our current course is full, new courses will start in the Spring Term. Price is $340. Enrolments are open.

 

Manly Sailing supports the Manly Yacht Club Junior Sailing Program and encourages children who have completed a course and wish to continue sailing to join the program to further their skills and grow within the sport. Ask us for more details.
