School Sailing Continues Into Winter

2022-06-10T19:54:36+10:00

Will winter put a freeze on school sailing? Never! The autumn and winter seasons typically see a slowing down for youth sailing; but at Manly Sailing, things are just starting to heat up. Our die-hard sailors are excited by the stronger winds, and they’re super keen to get out on the water – after putting on an extra jacket first! Despite the challenges the last couple of years have ushered in with COVID and remote learning, two Northern Beaches Secondary College schools, Balgowlah Boys Campus and Manly Selective Campus have supported students to attend the weekly Wednesday afternoon training [...]

Resources to encourage outdoor play for children

2022-07-02T20:26:35+10:00

Resources to encourage your children to put down their devices and play outside Guest blog contributed by StopNDD.org! In fact, the dependence on screen-time has become such an issue that the term 'nature-deficit disorder' was coined to describe what [...]

Discover Windsurfing Day

2019-04-02T16:57:43+11:00

Try Windsurfing Manly Sailing has a passion for sailing and every new day is another adventure. For that reason, we felt it was time to challenge our sailors and we had the opportunity to converse with experienced windsurfers and partner up with Australian Sailing and BIC Australia. Therefore, we now want to see if there is some interest here in Manly for windsurfing courses. Windsurfing is another fantastic water sport and it is basically a mix of sailing and surfing. It could be a great addition to Manly Sailing and our location here in Manly. To see whether there [...]

Summer Holiday Camps

2019-04-02T16:52:09+11:00

Wow, what a start of the new year! We've had more than a hundred kids joining us between three 3-day camps this month. The response that we got from the kids were that they really enjoyed learning to sail, including theory and exercises such as rigging, derigging, capsizing, turtling, follow the leader etc. and most important of all, they made so many new friends which is so fun for us to see! This time, we decided to offer two camps depending on the kids previous sailing experience. The intention was to challenge the more experienced kids and further [...]
