International Yacht Training
IYT is the most internationally accredited global leader and trusted standard of excellence in yacht training, maritime certification, safety, knowledge and sailing adventures. Manly Sailing is a part of the International Yacht Training Worldwide network and offers sailors access to qualifications for chartering yachts up to 24 meters internationally.
Where to begin?
If you are new to sailing, your journey will start with keelboat Start Crewing and Start Helming on Aqualuna, Manly Sailing’s 24ft keelboat. It is the perfect boat to get started with the basics and to build your confidence. Once you have completed those courses and have some experience under your belt, you can move onto the IYT courses on Manly Sailing’s Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 409.
- Sail Sydney Harbour: if you are thinking about moving up and onto bigger boats, this will give you a taster before you commit.
- International Crew Certificate: for those with some experience who want to become an effective and competent crew member on a larger yacht.
- International Bareboat Skipper Certificate: for experienced sailors who would like the skills and certification for cruising or chartering a yacht inshore or close offshore in daylight hours.
- International Certificate of Competence (ICC): your ticket to the Mediterranean, Americas, Asia and many other destinations to charter yachts.
- ICC Assessment: if you have a lot of experience you might qualify for a one day ICC assessment which would lead to an ICC Certificate.
Sydney Harbour Sail
If you are interested in yachting and would like to have a go on a larger sailing yacht this is perfect for you. A 3 hour experience on Sydney Harbour, skippered by experienced instructors to help you get the best out of your time on the water.
No experience necessary. 3 hours $189.
Intro to Yachting
For those that are new to sailing with little or no experience and who want an introduction to sailing and to get to know their way around a yacht.
Introduction to Yachting covers elements such as wind awareness, parts of a boat, terminology, knots and buoyage.
The practical element of the course is run over 2 days (usually a weekend) and costs $595.

International Crew Certificate (Sail)
For those with sailing experience who want to become an effective and competent crew member on a larger sailing yacht.
The International Crew Certificate course includes pre-course online theory study and exam, and a practical element. The practical element of the course is run over 2 x 2 days and one night sail (usually on weekends) and costs $1,650. You may be eligible for the fast track path (based on instructor assessment).

International Bareboat Skipper Certificate
For experienced sailors who want to gain the level of skill and competence, as well as the certification, required for chartering inshore or close offshore in daylight hours.
The course includes pre-course online theory and exam and practical sailing sessions and final exam. The practical element of the course is run over 2 x 2 days and one night sail (usually on weekends) and costs $1,850. You may be eligible for the fast track path (based on instructor assessment).
Course prerequisites apply including 200nm and 10 days sea time plus experience and /or prior certification to International Crew level – or equivalent. If you don’t have sufficient sea time, we run Club Racing (inshore and offshore) sessions on Solace which can be used to gain experience.
VHF certificate required before certificate can be issued.

International Certificate of Competence (ICC)
Your ticket to the Mediterranean, Americas, Asia and many other locations.
ICC is now mandatory in many countries and accepted in others as proof of your competence to charter. To qualify for this certificate you need to complete an International Bareboat Skipper course, or an ICC Assessment. VHF certificate also required before ICC can be issued. $125
Holders of the IYT International Bareboat Skipper Certificate qualify for automatic issue of an ICC.
International Certificate of Competence (ICC) Assessment
If you have a lot of experience you might qualify for a one day ICC assessment which would lead to an ICC Certificate.
The ICC assessment includes of some pre-course study and a day onbaord Solace for the practical element.
Assessment days will be run on the 2nd day of Crew and Skipper courses.
Assessment & exam: $620. ICC Certificate $125 (radio licence is required before a certificate can be issued)
