International Yacht Training

IYT is the most internationally accredited global leader and trusted standard of excellence in yacht training, maritime certification, safety, knowledge and sailing adventures. Manly Sailing is a part of the International Yacht Training Worldwide network and offers sailors access to qualifications for chartering yachts up to 24 meters internationally.


Where to begin?

If you are new to sailing, we recommend that you complete Start Crewing and Start Helming on Aqualuna, Manly Sailing’s 24ft keelboat to get started and to build your confidence. Once you have completed those courses and have some experience under your belt, you can move onto the IYT courses on Manly Sailing’s Jenneau Sun Odyssey 409.

Introduction To Yachting

If you are interested in yachting and would like to have a go on a larger sailing yacht this is perfect for you.

A 3 hour experience on Sydney Harbour, skippered by experienced instructors to help you get the best out of your time on the water.

3 hours experience $189. No experience necessary.

International Crew Certificate (Sail)

For those with sailing experience who want to become an effective and competent crew member on a larger sailing yacht.

The International Crew Certificate course includes pre-course online theory study and exam, as well as 2 days with an overnight stay onboard practical.

The practical element of the course is run over 2 days with overnight stay and costs $820

International Bareboat Skipper Certificate

For experienced sailors who want to gain the level of skill and competence, as well as the certification, required for chartering inshore or close offshore in daylight hours.

The course includes pre-course online theory and exam, then a 2 day overnight onboard practical sailing session and final exam.

Course prerequisites apply including 200nm and 10 days sea time plus experience and /or prior certification to International Crew level – or equivalent. If you don’t have sufficient sea time, we run Club Racing (inshore and offshore) sessions on Solace which can be used to gain experience.

The practical element of the course is 2 days with overnight stay / $950

VHF certificate required before certificate can be issued.

International Certificate of Competence (ICC)

Your ticket to the Mediterranean, Americas, Asia and many other locations.

ICC is now mandatory in many countries and accepted in others as proof of your competence to charter. To qualify for this certificate you need to complete an International Bareboat Skipper course, or an ICC Assessment. VHF certificate also required before ICC can be issued. $125

Holders of the IYT International Bareboat Skipper Certificate qualify for automatic issue of an ICC.

International Certificate of Competence (ICC) Assessment

If you have a lot of experience you might qualify for a one day ICC assessment which would lead to an ICC Certificate.

The ICC assessment includes of some pre-course study and a day onbaord Solace for the practical element.

Assessment days will be run on the 2nd day of Crew and Skipper courses.

Assessment & exam: $620. ICC Certificate $125 (radio licence is required before a certificate can be issued)
