Manly Sailing offers fun and professional power boating courses for beginners who would like to get the NSW boat licence and the more advanced who would like improve their boat handling skills.

NSW General Powerboat Licence

Your powerboating pathway begins here, introducing you to practical driving skills, trip planning, boat maintenance, safety equipment and dealing with emergency situations. After completing this course, you will be able to take the certificate to a NSW Service Centre to apply for your licence.

  • A one day /course with a mixture of theory and practical that will give you the knowledge and skills to get your NSW general boat licence

  • Suitable for both beginners and those with experience

  • Ongoing assessment throughout the day, with certificate provided if you pass that can be exchanged for a boat licence

  • Small group sessions (maximum 4 students) with an experienced instructor

Course Content

  • Trip Preparation, Weather & The Environment, Personal Equipment, Parts of The Boat, Engines & Fuel, Launching, Low Speed Manoeuvres, High Speed Manoeuvres, Moorings & Anchoring, Navigation, Rules of the Road & Regulations

  • Duration of the course: 9am to 5pm with break for lunch

  • Ages: 12+ to 85 years

  • Cost: $350

  • What you need to bring: sensible quick dry clothing, sun protection, hat and soft soled shoes (trainers)
